Remote sync status: Feed ingestion failed.
-
Any idea what’s causing this error? I’ve tried reconnecting our Pinterest account with the plugin. I’ve turned the sync on and off. I’ve even added a manual feed with Pinterest.
I’ve noticed that the XML file is not showing the updates we made to the google_product_category and condition fields.

I am having the same issue and what looks like is happening is the plugin or pinterest is truncating the URL.
Actually Source URL created by the plugin.
/pinterest-for-woocommerce-1mMbIU.xmlWhat Pinterest Shows for the Source URL
../erce-1mMbIU.xmlIs the URL too long?
You can fix this by adding the feed URL manually on Pinterest with Add Data Source, however it will then add duplicates of your catalog even though the second one shows *failed and give you poor tag health errors…
This would be an ok fix, however you cannot delete the catalog submitted by the plugin, you can only delete the catalog you manually submitted, here is where it gets “funnier”.
if you delete the manual catalog it deletes all your products, but if have a catalog that errors + the correct catalog it will add two catalogs. ??
I have trying to solve this for the last 3 hours, if you figure anything out, I am all ears.
*Update
I turned on logging to have a look what is going on, so it seems Pinterest can see the correct URL after all, however it is sending back a 404 error.
54.236.1.0 – – [14/Feb/2022:02:31:55 -0500] “GET /wp-content/uploads/pinterest-for-woocommerce-bCkEl3.xml HTTP/1.1” 404 71900 www.***.com “-” “Pinterest/0.2 (+https://www.pinterest.com/)” “-”
I hid my url with *** above. I did chmod 755 the xml file and pinterest still 404’s when trying to find it….
Test from a Remote server with wget, file is definitely not 404 and is readable.

My manual feed errored out the 2nd day because the URL to the Pinterest Catalog feed changed, I didn’t realize the plugin was changing the feed URL each day. So a manual feed doesn’t seem to work.
The only other option is to use a different plugin until this gets resolved because Pinterest only gives you 30 days to fix your catalog or tag errors before they take away your verified badge.
Thank you for the reply, I am still trying to get verified … lol. I have no other URL except for the one submitted.
Do you happen to know another plugin that “actually” works until this one is fixed?
*Update: So I seen in the support forum at the top how to disable a catalog, so I disable the catalog that failed and now Pinterest shows this error:
Catalog needs attention
Less than 50% of your catalog was successfully uploaded for one of your data sources. Fix these issues to continue.*shrug*
Are you running any type of caching plugins?
Sure am, W3Cache, however disabled for 24 hours to see if that was the issue and it is not. Turned it back on, exclude the URL no go.
The wget request downloads the entire XML with caching and without.
Thank you again btw.
Hey @xolite ,
Hope you are doing well!
Please follow these steps:
1. Go to Settings tab on “Marketing > Pinterest”
2. Disable “Enable product sync”
3. Enable “Erase Plugin Data” and Save
4. Go to Connection tab on ?”Marketing > Pinterest”
5. Disconnect your accoun by clicking on “Disconnect”
6. Deactivate and uninstall “Pinterest for WooCommerce”
— At this point no feed should be present on /wp-content/uploads, no settings on the table wp-options, no Scheduled Action related to Pinterest and no feed registered on Pinterest —
7. Install again “Pinterest for WooCommerce”
8. Restart the Pinterest onboarding
9. Wait 24hs until Pinterest approve the catalogLet us know if that helps.
Best,
ChristianHi there, Iv been struggling with this for a few days. MY entire catalog disappeared after I unclaimed one of my sites (not one being used for catalog). I had the ingestion error feed also.
I just followed ALL the steps outlined above and now I have a new error in my Catalogs list.
ERROR 100. Check your data source URL and password to try again.
when looking at my list of catalogs in Pinterest it looks like the source URL is still my original old catalog.
PS: im using Woocommerce
Please Advise.
UPDATE:
I Fixed this issue by revoking access + (all the steps mentioned above)
SETTINGS> APPPS> Pinterest for WooCommerce > Revoke Access
After I did this and then re-established my connection via plug (on wordpress) my catalog began to sync shortly after.
Hope this helps you also.
@christian1983 @cyclesphases Thank you both very much for the help and ideas, getting a coffee in me and I will give it a go again. ??
@christian1983 Appreciate the help again, feed now can be seen by Pinterest. ( Version 1.04 )
On another site I am working on, I noticed the plugin updated to 1.05, while trying to setup with 1.05 it literally tries to submit the feed before it is even generated, I tried repeatedly, something change in 1.05?
Will keep 1.04 for now.
Thank you again.
Hey @xolite
the only change was: “Add – Shipping column for developers and testers.”
please contact us at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support. You may need to create an account before you can access that page.
Please include a link to this forum thread, so that we can keep track of what’s already been done.
We will be able to help you further there.Best,
ChristianGood morning. I’ve gone through all the steps above: deleting the plugin, disabling everything, then reinstall. I’m still getting this error: “Feed ingestion failed” Pinterest returned: Your feed file has an XML formatting issue. Make sure you are not missing a tag.
I’m fairly green about fixing these things so any help is really really appreciated. I do t want to lose my verification on Pinterest
Thanks
