Remocing "Powered by WordPress" footer

How do I remove the “Powered by WordPress” footer from pages on my website at https://www.appliedtranslations.co.uk ?

I have tried Option 1 as suggested at https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/daily-tip-2-easy-ways-to-remove-the-powered-by-wordpress-link/

but it does not explain where to insert the code. I placed it at the end of the file and it did not work.

As for Option 2, I could not find the code it specifies in the file.
