“Remind Me With Google Calendar”

Hi Stephan,

It is actually hard-coded in events-manager/classes/em-event.php, line 2309.
You could manually change the url there, but it would be lost when EM updates.

Google seems to have 7 “different” images there:
https://www.google.com/calendar/images/ext/gc_button1.gif through
https://www.google.com/calendar/images/ext/gc_button7.gif

You can view them directly in your browser by changing the url.

@duisterdenhaag the “7” gives a 404 but never mind – none of those seem to be high-res and none of those can be replaced currently. If Events Manager had a function whereby that URL could be changed, that would solve a lot of problems. (Jeez that was a real obvious feature request there and I’m not even a paying customer…)

The main challenge here is that we seem to have two established systems competing with each other: Google Calendar and the de-facto-standard “ical”. I was just about to code a flyout/popover to allow users to choose (Yuck! They won’t even know what to click on!) when I came across this video. Has anyone tested this? Does this work? that would really solve my problem.

Stephan, you got me going so I made my own version. It’s a little wider at 174px but the same height. Sample application:

There really isn’t much I’d call “hi-res” when the final image is only 33 pixels high. Start at 1024 and it still has to crunch to 33 pixels high. It takes a bit of ingenuity for designers to make those little URL favicons come out looking representative, using only 16 x 16 pixels.

hello @charliear great effort – I overlooked that I could use the #_EVENTGCALURL and tie that to a button of my own fabrication so, problem solved for now.
