You should be able to get notified 24 hours in advanced before any scheduled tasks started. I checked that on my test site and it works as expected.
As a first step, you want to check the following pages to see if all is well setup:

If so and you still don’t get any reminders on your inbox, can you check that your email address is well set up? You can follow the step-by-step guide on this page:
