Even though I’ve checked the option to include rel=”nofollow” for each link, that never actually gets included in the code when inserted. I always have to remember to manually add it into the html afterwards. Would be great to have that functionality work.

  • Hi @cavalierlife,

Seems to be working OK for me. Can you please double check the global option is switched on in Affiliate Links->Settings and test inserting a new link into a new post please.

Also ensure you are using the green “aff” button and not the standard link tool.

Existing links that are already inserted will not be retroactively corrected by toggling that setting. You need to reinsert those existing links.

    Thanks

Randomly it works. Much of the time it doesn’t.

    1. The global option is on.
    2. The green aff button is used.
    3. Not trying to deal with existing links.

The process: I decide I want a link somewhere, so I click the green aff button (note that I’m not highlighting text, just wanting to insert the default text I’ve set up and/or an image). So anyway, I click the green aff button and choose either the link icon or the image icon to insert the code.

I get this after the url portion

    xlink=”href”

    instead of rel=”nofollow”.

Although occasionally, I correctly get rel=”nofollow” instead of xlink=”href”.

But I have to check the code each time, or I’ll miss the times it messes up.

    Hi @cavalierlife,

Do you have any SEO plugins that alter links on insertion? This would be my most likely guess given the sporadic behaviour.

Might be worth reviewing the settings on any of these types of plugins, or you can replicate the issue every time, you could try to disable them temporarily and see if that fixes the problem. Then re-enabled them one by one, testing in between, to isolate which one it is.

    Hope this helps!

I do run Yoast SEO. I’ll see if disabling that makes a difference. So, your plugin has no code in it that inserts xlink=”href” then? If so or if not, that would narrow things down. Thanks.

Hi @cavalierlife, correct, we definitely don’t have any code that adds that which is why I was suspecting an conflicting plugin.

Yoast SEO usually poses no problems with ThirstyAffiliates, so let me know how you get on!

    Cheers,
    Josh
