Relevanssi would not activate after upgrade

    just FYI, I had to increase my PHP resource limits to ridiculous levels (3000 seconds) in order to get Relevanssi 3.1.6 to activate after upgrading, otherwise all I would get were 500 Server Error white page results.

    Do I have to leave my resources set to those ridiculous levels in order for Relevanssi to continue to work going forward?

    That would be because upgrading from 3.1.5 to 3.1.6 included a database change (adding a new column in the database and filling it with values). You can set the time limit to a reasonable value after the upgrade.
