    Hi,

Just off WP support, they made a change to the media gallery appearance in their admin dashboard, and with the change there is some sort of interference with the search function in the gallery and this plugin. I can no longer search by file, title, etc name in the media gallery. This is also true for the search on my website (which is why I use Relevassi in the first place.

Not sure what they did to mess up your great plugin, but can you please look into fixing this? Until then I will have to disable the plugin unfortunately.

    Thanks,
    John

Ah, I see. I was wondering what’s wrong as the search seemed to work just fine for me. But yes, indeed, the search is not working. I’ll see what’s up with that. Meanwhile I can offer you two solutions that will allow you to keep using Relevanssi elsewhere:

    1. You can switch the media library from grid to list view. For some reason Relevanssi searching works with the list view.

    2. You can uncheck the “Use Relevanssi for admin searches” setting in Relevanssi settings.

    Hi Mikko,

Finally getting back to getting this feature working again.

I am assuming the updates you have done in the past months has fixed this issue?
I activated Relevassi again and tried to search by gallery image titles, but it is not working on my site (Connsortia.com).

Have you been able to sort out the issue above or not yet?

This should be fixed in the current version: if you are using the grid view, Relevanssi should automatically disable itself. In the list view it should work.

How exactly is the search failing?

    Hi Mikko,

    Sorry for the confusion.
I am not looking to use the search in the media gallery on the admin side of WP/Divi.

I am looking to use it on my site, connsortia.com, to search the site but include titles of images in galleries I have on the site.

This was working at one point then stopped (see start of thread), and was interfering with something in gallery view of the admin side as well.

What had stopped working and was hoping was fixed was being able to pick up those words, etc in image titles in the site’s galleries.

The site if full of saxophone engraving images, so, if someone wanted to search for ‘gold tenor’ for example to see all the gold tenors we have cataloged, I want the search to return this result on the website. Relavassi jused to do this but stopped as part of the admin media gallery gallery view issue.

Ah, sorry, I’ve all this time thought you’re just talking about the media library. There’s no “media gallery view issue” that would affect the front end search; those are two completely separate searches. If the search is set up to index images and the front end search is configured to show the images, the problems with the media library admin search have nothing to do with it.

Right now your site is using Jetpack Search and not Relevanssi, right?

Was Relevanssi set up to index the “attachment” post type and was the “Index image files” checked in the indexing settings? Are the galleries done with a plugin, or are they just regular images in the usual WordPress media library? Was the search set up so that it includes the “attachment” post type?

Those are the likely reasons for the image search to stop working.

    Hi Mikko,

I did find that the Jetpack search was enabled, I have disabled it.
    I was indexing ‘attachment’ type.
I have re-indexed just in case.

Everything appears to be working again, thank you!
