Relative path for custom theme

Hi, get_template_directory_uri() returns the URI for your site’s theme directory. A custom SLB theme is installed as a plugin (by default in your site’s plugins directory), so that function will not point to the SLB theme.

I would recommend downloading the sample SLB theme to use as a starting point for your custom theme as it already contains the necessary code to point to the theme’s stylesheets and scripts.

thank you so much for your reply! So I downloaded the sample theme, put it in my plugins folder, updated the headers, activated the plugin and then selected it from the dropdown in SLB settings. But when I try to launch the lightbox by clicking on an image, it doesn’t work –?the page gets reloaded to show only the image I previously clicked on. It does work if I use a default theme.

It seems to be a javascript problem, but I can see with the inspector that all the necessary .js are loaded, included my custom theme’s client.js (I have uncommented the path lines for both .js and .css in main.php). No errors are thrown, either. :/

Is there something else I am missing? Would be so cool to use this plugin!

For the sake of precision, my custom theme’s client.js did throw an error on load at first (said $ is not a function), but I replaced $ with jQuery and no errors are reported now.

I did some more testing and realized the problem I was having had nothing to do with Simple Lightbox, so my custom theme is now working! :)))

I’ll leave here a little recap because honestly, the info on the plugin site about this could be easier ?? So if you want to create your own custom theme, do the following:

1. Download the sample theme provided by Archetyped here: https://github.com/archetyped/slb-theme-example

2. Put the theme’s folder in your plugins folder.

3. Open up the main.php file and change Simple Lightbox: Custom Theme (Example) on line 3 with the name you want for your custom theme. Suppose you choose MyTheme.

4. Now go into the WordPress admin and look at the list of plugins installed. You should find a plugin called MyTheme. Activate it.

5. Next you go in the Simple Lightbox settings (found under the Appearance menu), and selected MyTheme from the dropdown menu of available themes. Save the settings.

6. Great! Now go back to main.php, and uncomment lines 35, 39 and 44. These are the paths that point at the files your custom theme needs to work.

7. That’s it! Your custom theme should be set up now in its basic form. All layout modifications should be made in layout.html, and all css modification in styles.css
