Related Products variable products with add to acrt instead of select options

Hi,
When related products show and they are of the variable kind it show select options and customers have to click and then go to that particular product page select the option and then click add to cart, can this be done from the original page?

So the related product show the dropdown to select the variable and an add to cart button, this way customers don’t have to leave the page.

Same principle would be nice on the category page, i.e. it shows a dropdown and add to cart button instead of select option only
