Related products not showing on single product page

I’m new to using woocommerce but was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction cause I haven’t seen a good answer. I’m using this function to try to output the single-product/related.php file (using the default) in the single-product.php. Nothing seems to be outputting despite adding cross sells and upsells. Is there any way to control what gets outputted to be from cross sell and if none go with other products in the category?
