Related posts showing when not set

I’m having a bit difficulty in understanding the problem, can you please help me get it so that I can understand and help you?

Related posts are turned off (i.e. no item is selected) and the number of posts is set to blank but they still show at the bottom of posts. It appears that you need a line like this to stop it doing that.

if($redux_builder_amp[‘ampforwp-single-select-type-of-related’]==0)
{return;}

It seems that if you have ever set it before (in the past) it does not forget the query. If you change it back to nothing it still goes through the loop at the bottom of the related-posts.php file.
