• Hello guys,

I just installed Contextual Related Posts but now face some problems – unfortunately I’m still new to WordPress, so I don’t know how to solve this on my own.
The plugin in itself works, it displays related posts at the bottom of the post just as it should. It works without any hitch with my older posts (July 22nd and older). However, the newer posts (August 5th and newer) seem to have problems with the plugin. The related posts still get displayed at the bottom of the post, but the related-posts-list overwrites the text it should display when sharing the post. I work with SEO Ultimate 7.6.5.8 to insert customized text for social networks listing. So right now, if I hit my facebook-share button, it doesn’t display the description text I put in SEO, but the related posts – but only in the newer posts. The older posts work perfectly fine and still display the right text when sharing.
I tried several solutions to solve this, but nothing worked so far.I tried deactivating as well as deleting the contextual related posts plugin, but the description text for social network sharing still displayed the related posts. After deleting the plugin, I saved affected posts anew, but this didn’t help either. I even tried deleting the affected posts and simply post them again, but the problem reappers even contextual related posts is not installed. I also deleted my browser cache.

To make things perfect: after re-installing the plugin, I chose a different “title of related posts” in the output options (in my case “Passende Beitr?ge”). All my posts now display this new title – but when sharing, only the newest post applies this, the other affected posts still display the old title of the first installation (in my case “?hnliche Beitr?ge”).

I really hope someone can help me – because right now even deleting the plugin doesn’t solve the problems I have. And since the problem isn’t even consistent, only appering with younger posts but not affecting older ones, I have absolutely no clue what exactly is the problem here…

Wanna try out for yourself? Visit mangabildung.de/blog and try hitting the facebook-share buttons (it’s in German, but one can recognise the related posts-text by the missing spaces between words).
I’m grateful for any help, but please keep in mind that I’m still a newbie.
    Thank you!

Hi, I just saw this post:

    mangabildung.de/reaktor-1-f-ein-bericht-aus-fukushima

I don’t see anything different. Is it because you’re using a different plugin for the FB share?

    Hello Ajay,

    thank you for answering.
I use the same plugin for FB sharing for all my posts, so it doesn’t explain the differences between posts.

It’s hard to notice the problem if you don’t pay close attention to the text. I’ll try to explain again.
Contextual Related Posts is deactivated right now and non of my posts show any related posts at the bottom of the page – this works fine.
But if you hit the FB-share button, the description text for e.g. mangabildung.de/reaktor-1-f-ein-bericht-aus-fukushima (the one you visited) says this:
Passende Beitr?ge:Daisy aus FukushimaTokyo Magnitude 8.0Anne Frank im Land der MangasKurzportraits: übersetzungenxxxHOLiCDeath Note
This text was generated by the Contextual Related Posts plugin – because this is a list of related posts. But the plugin is deactivated right now, so I shouldn’t get any related posts at all, and I certainly shouldn’t be getting them in my sharing-description-text.
The text I told SEO Ultimate to show when hitting FB-sharing is this:
Haben Sie sich mal gefragt, wie in Fukushima aufger?umt wird? Schutzkleidung, Firmenstreits und Strahlung stehen auf der Tagesordnung.

And before installing Contextual Related Posts, this was indeed the text that was shown when sharing the link.
I also tried the following. Contextual Related Posts is deactivated right now. I tried to post something new and do indeed get the text for sharing that I want, so this works fine.
But: I simply wanted to delete the affected posts and post them again with the plugin deativated. But even with completely deleting the old posts and publishing a new version, I still get the related posts-list when sharing in the link description box.

I hope I was able to describe my problem. I just want my old sharing-text back by now…

Hi, thanks for the detailed explanation. I notice what you say now. However, it has nothing to do with Contextual Related Posts as it doesn’t make any permanent changes to your post content. Everything is applied on the fly and only when the plugin is activated.

This is some other plugin or your theme that is causing this clash.
