related posts of the SAME category

By Default, Related Posts thumbnails make the relation show only those posts which belong to the same category of that post.
This is will resolve your problem, however, if you have tinkered with the settings here is what you need to do.

Go to Related Post Thumbnails -> Relation Builder Options, Here select Category.

thank for your answer.Sorry But what are the settings default in “general options” ? If I enable more than 1 catégorie in “Categories will appear in related posts: “, the plugin display all the categories in each posts.(and not only of the current post)
If I desable all, nothing ‘s displayed (normal)
Realy don’t understand…

Let me explain the settings to you. ??

Here I created a video demonstration for you. [ https://d.pr/v/GB9pmL ].
As you can see in this video that I have selected.

General Display Options -> Display related posts on categories to All
General Display Options -> Categories will appear in related posts to All
Relation Builder Option -> Base Relation on Categories

Let me explain these settings in-depth.
Display related posts on categories will show the related posts on these category posts. When selected “All”, every post will have the related post thumbnails.

Relation Builder Option -> Base Relation on, This is responsible for the relationship of the post showing under a post. So the “Category” relation will only get those posts that belong to the same category.

I tried again and again but it doesnt work. But maybe I understand why. Did your script works on the first parent category ? Because my catories (newscat1, nexscat2…) are children of main category (newsMaincat). And when I ‘n in a post in newscat1, related post displays all the post of the “newsmaincat”…
Is there a solution ?

The only way I see it is that the post which is added in the (newscat1) must have been added in the parent category as well.

I have created the above-described scenario just for you.
Here I have created 3 categories.
1. Main category ( Parent )
2. Category 1 ( Child category )
3. Category 2 ( Child category )

As you can see in this video as well, [Helping Screencast]
When I go to a child category’s post, only that child category’s posts appear in the related post thumbnail.
Same with the parent, only the parent category posts appear.
