My related posts are set to ‘on’ but they’re not showing on any post on my site. Jetpack is connected and working correctly from what I can see on my admin dashboard, but when I go to my wordpress.com dashboard for more Jetpack features., it says “Jetpack can’t communicate with your site because the REST API is not responding correctly.” I can’t figure out why it would say this when I’ve verified that it is connected.

Could this be causing related posts to not be visible?

    Hi there, @the-muffin-top,

The issue with the Related Posts can be caused by the problem you detected with your Jetpack connection.

I did some checks, and it looks like there might be an issue happening at your server’s end that is preventing Jetpack from connecting as expected – that REST API hiccup.

The error I see on my end is a 502 Bad Gateway, so you can pass it to your host.

Let me know if you can reconnect Jetpack okay and if the related posts start working again once your host fixes that, and we’ll take it from there if necessary.

    Hi there,?@the-muffin-top,

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!

Hi, I’m trying to figure out this error but I’m unable to see it at my end. Could you tell me when/where you’re seeing the 502 error? As I said, it’s a bit confusing because my admin dashboard doesn’t show any connections issues, but the WordPress.com dashboard does. I’d appreciate it if this thread could be kept open for a few more days while I also try and reach out to my host.

Hi, I checked with my host and they were unable to find any errors. I’ve also checked the Site Health parameters and the REST API, PHP and Jetpack connection show as working fine. How can we take this forward?

    Hi @the-muffin-top,

I can see that the Jetpack connection is failing one test; however, I noticed it was enough for it to show the WordPress.com dashboard to check the Jetpack features, can you confirm the same?

Meanwhile, your website loads through HTTPS and HTTP, to solve this issue, I would recommend that you change your site’s URL to?HTTPS?(you can do so under Settings > General in your dashboard), and then ask your host for help redirecting all traffic from HTTP to?HTTPS.?

Do reinstall Jetpack after that using our steps (only if your issue persists).

Let us know how this goes.

Hi, I’m sorry I don’t understand what I need to check. On the WordPress.com dashboard, I see a red button that says ‘Jetpack can’t communicate with your site’, which then leads me to the REST API error message. I don’t know which features I need to look out for. On my admin dashboard, it says Jetpack connected.

My site is set to https://thedessertedgirl.com, I’ve just confirmed it. Do I still need to reach out to my host for a redirection?

    Hi @the-muffin-top,

The steps to force HTTPS would need to be taken on your WP-Admin dashboard. There are two dashboards:

    • The WP-Admin dashboard (which is the default one, that you initially accessed when you have installed WordPress, even when you had no plugins).
    • The WordPress.com dashboard (that was added when you installed and connected Jetpack on your website, allowing you to manage your Jetpack plan, and other features).

Since the WordPress.com one is logically broken because of the Jetpack connection, you only have access to the WP-Admin dashboard now.

I’d suggest checking our blog about how to access the WP-Admin (so you’re able to force HTTPS):

Hi, I did reach out to my host and they set up a redirection for https so I assume I don’t need to do anything at my end now? I also don’t know if this solves the Jetpack connection issue?

I’ve realised that related posts show in preview mode but not after publishing…is this still a connection issue?

    Hi @the-muffin-top

I took a look for you and your Jetpack connection looks great now. The related posts are still not showing after publishing?

When I looked at your site right now ?? I do see related posts under the post.

Hi, yes you’re right, they do seem to be showing now. I don’t understand what happened because till yesterday they wouldn’t appear at all. They do seem to be loading a bit slowly. I’ll keep an eye on it and let you know if the issue occurs again!
