Rejects my username and/or my password

  • I have installed WordPress and manually defined the configuration file which I uploaded to my website. I downloaded it back from my website and copy the username and password into the login page.

    When trying to log in, I use the username and password defined in the configuration file. I’ve also tried other plausible usernames, such as what I use with FireFTP and this website.

    No matter what I try, I keep getting the following message:
    ERROR: Invalid username

    When I try to get my password via email, that’s also rejected. I wonder if anyone can tell me what I’m doing wrong.
