• Is it possible to reinstall wordpress and note lose my data?

I am experiencing very, very, very slow posting on one of my blogs. I have a total of three blogs right now on the same server, and this is the only one that has this problem.

From the dashboard, I click on the “Create new Post”. It takes a while for that page to load, sometimes my browser stops responding (I have tried Chrome, FF3, and IE8), then I type everything in, then I click Publish. The article does publish, but it takes a long while for the next page to come up. The browser often stops responding for at least a minute.

This is just for new posts. Editing posts, creating new pages, editing pages, uploading media, and everything in that nature loads and performs just fine.

All advice and possible fixes are appreciated. I can provide more information if you need it.

  • Reinstalling WordPress without losing your data would mean just uploading the WordPress files and can’t imagine that is going to speed anything up.

You might delete anything in Settings->Writing->Update Services and don’t send Trackbacks (Write->Posts) and don’t Allow Pings (Write->Posts) to see if that speeds things up.

Just tried all of those. None worked. I read somewhere else on the internet about the Update Services, but that still didn’t improve and thing. I have already tried uninstalling plugins as well.

Anything else, I am desperate. I can’t understand why on one blog on the same host that there isn’t a problem.

I did update from 2.6.1 to 2.6.2 using a plugin. I have since disabled/uninstalled that plugin. I originally installed WP as 2.6.1 using the fantastico installer.
