Reinstalling – a way to check custom file edit success?

  • I paid for some work to be done to my site, but asked the provider to make all changes in the custom files of the Thesis premium theme I bought. This way during an upgrade to a new version of WP, we wouldn’t lose any custom changes to the site.

    Would reinstalling the same version of wordpress (as it is offered in the admin) be a way to check that nothing will go wrong in future upgrades?

    Would this work?
