Hi I tried to delete and reinstall Yoast because of some problems. But now when I try to reinstall it I get a failure message: “Installation fehlgeschlagen: Der Zielordner existiert bereits.” It says that the folder is already existing. What can I do here? It doesn’t appear in my plugins or elsewhere.

  • FTP into your server and delete the Yoast directory under plugins

    Hi @welteneffi1 ,

As @livingeasylivecom mentioned, it is correct that when you deleted the plugin, the plugin folder was indeed not completely removed, that is why you get that error. The solution would indeed be deleting the /wordpress-seo/ plugin folder in the /wp-content/plugins/ folder on the webserver. If you have access to a file manager in the control panel of your host, you can find and delete the folder, or by accessing your server through a FTP client if you can. In any way, your web host can help you with this as well.

    Hope this helps.
