• Hello folks, Nance again. I did something stupid, I imported files from a customer’s existing site but failed to import media files. I now imported media in the uploads folder but of course they are not showing up in the individual posts. I have created new posts in the site so don’t want to lose them. What I want to do is to re-import the XML database but will I get duplicates. Do I have to delete existing files and then re-import. Please help the client is not happy. The site was supposed to be operational by past week. The site in question is https://westernautothailand.org

    Thanks for writing the forums.

In WordPress 4.8, importing the WordPress-exported .xml file twice won’t create duplicates, I know because I did it on my WordPress install, and WordPress importer handled it gracefully — gave a message that it found duplicates, and the result that duplicate posts weren’t created.

Will you write us back afterwards to let us know how you go?

Will you start to mark this thread as ‘Resolved’? (including some solution detail)

Or if there’s still concern, then will you update how it is?
