Registrations require WP account?

I’m setting up a new site and want to add this plugin.

I’d like my site to be open to the public, but still allow registrants to my events the ability to change their registration on their own. With the pro version are registrants able to edit their registration? If so, is an account required to do that? Is it an account used to access my site or is it an account associated directly with the registration program?
