Registration glitches

Hello, I’m getting the following message when completing the registration form: “Error: Something went wrong when sending email. Please contact site admin.”
This happens despite no admin e-mail notification being set, or no e-mail confirmation being required.
However, the user is still registered correctly and can login as normal.
Can you please help out?.
