how new registrant gets redirected to a specific page, not dashboard

I’m quite confused by registration on a WordPress blog. My situation is that I want 90% of the blog to be open to comments, etc., but there are a few pages with company information that I would like to ask the visitor to ‘register’ (meaning, I want them to give me their email and some basic info, automatically send them a link to log-in with a password and then reveal the content).

I have tried the plug-in ‘pagerestrict’ which essentially does this fine, except when the user registers, they are directed to the dashboard afterwards. My visitors find this confusing, they don’t know what the dashboard is or how to get back to the page they were on.

Is there a way to automatically direct the new registrant to a certain page or post (e.g. the page that had been protected before they registered and logged-in)?

I’m hoping for any suggestions or direction that will help improve usability for my visitors.
