Registering for Comments with Site Wide Tags

  • I recently converted to the Site Wide Tags plugin to funnel child blog posts to the parent blog. Previously, posts were published in duplicate. The plugin has worked beautifully and saved alot of time. However, a minor unanticipated minor issue has arisen with respect to comments. Comments can only be made by subscribers. When a reader who is registered at the parent blog or another child blog attempts to comment on a post, he/she must re-register on post source child blog. Does anyone know of a plugin, script, or technique that would allow people who are registered somewhere in the multisite network to comment anywhere on the network, without making that person a registered subscriber on the source child blog? Since child blogs on my network are regional, I’d like to keep the subscriber lists for each independent and unique from other child blogs on the network.

    Wait, are you saying you WANT people to have to re-register?

    Generally speaking, on a Multisite, users are registered for thw entire network. While they’re only users to the sites to which they are added, they are ‘psudeo subscribers’ for all other sites.

    I suppose you could use a membership plugin and change ‘comments’ to require a different level of membership…

    That’s exactly what I want it to do. A long time registered user reported to me that it was not letting him comment at a certain blog unless he re-registered. Anyway, I couldn’t replicate his problems. Thank you for the response (and a great plugin!)

    Your longtime user did something wrong ??

    Make a sample ‘user’ account for yourself to test with, though. Using your super admin ID gives you … super admin access ??
