Registered User logs in, goes to dashboard

  • I just received an email from my first registered user stating that after login he went immediately to the dashboard. I’m new to WP and thought that I had everything in order because it is working perfectly for me (admin). Now I worry that I may have installed it, or the database in such a way that every user has access to top level functions.

  • Doubt it, but register yourself as a new user and see what happens.

    Yeah. That’s a problem, always has been in this version, and doesn’t look like getting fixed. But there’s no way they actually get access to admin functions; still it’s basically whacked.

    You did fine. It’s not you, it’s some silly wonkiness in the dev brain. If you search for “redirect login” you’ll find some posts with info/instructions to fix that….

    It should probably go to the user profile section on the first login, but hitting the dashboard does not mean “top level access” – in fact one can do little more than submit a draft, unless allowed by admin, and edit their profile.
