    Hi superpotion,

We are planning on a release super, super soon. I keep promising it and then we find issues that prevent a release. I don’t want to release a half-baked module here, so we’re trying to hammer it out into a finely-tuned piece of software.

The hard part here is that this module is fairly complex compared to others, so with all the moving parts, it’s tough to get it bug-free. We don’t do “beta releases” of the premium modules since we sell them, but I do know that we’re super close. I’m thinking like a week at most.

    I wait with bated breath!

    Thanks, Denis.

I am waiting too. This feature is very important for my project.

    Hi
I am super super waiting as well. I bought the other paid plugins but won’t implement until this module is released. Please keep the pressure on to finish.

I know everyone is quite anxious about it. I don’t want to release something half-baked and have people up in arms because I didn’t do my best to create a solid add-on. ??

The regional module will be an excellent addition. And I can appreciate your integrity, not wanting to release another Windows Vista and have your customers beta test it for you. LOL! You have an excellent plugin and I’m very pleased with all of it.

    Hi
Great to see it is ready but I have a couple of questions.
Your documentation says you can configure how you want so you could use Towns, Villages & Burroughs as your hierarchy rather than continent, county, city! Am I right you start with the Default Continent – Country – County – City and then add sub-regions like Town (Child of City), Burrough (Child of Town) etc. going as many levels deep as you want? Or do you rename the original Continent – Country – County – City to your desired heirarchy keeping it just four levels deep?

This leads to the front-end filter where the question is whether the labels – Country – State – City etc. are customisable because not every country has States for instance and if you are doing a local listing database Continent and Country are probably redundant and the States, Cities should be labelled according to the country or region your website is targeting. For example if I am doing a Buisness Listing Database for Middlesex in the UK there will be cities, towns (not part of cities) and villages so my users would only want to type in a Town or City (cities possibly broken down to North South, East, West & Central areas) or village.

I would imagine I would organise that by having all the County split into areas North, South, East & West Middlesex, then cities with the large ones split into areas and the towns & villages all on the same hierarchical level. When customers click on the front-end dropdown this will have to be labelled logically so it might have the County section labelled County Area with the four areas listed, then City/Town/Village as the second dropdown.

Hence the front-end screen needs to be customisable. Sorry to have been so long-winded.

The names of the fields can be whatever you like on the front end.
Call them Bob, Sam and Sue for all the module cares. The examples made in the documentation are just that–examples. The hierarchy of your regions is independent of what you call it, which is the beauty of the module.

You can have any depth of regions in a hierarchy, although I think 4-5 is probably what most folks would ever use.

So all use cases you describe above are supported.
