Hey there, this plugin is really fantastic so far! I was wondering, however, is there supposed to be some sort of progress indicator whenever you regenerate an image/bulk images? I’m just assuming that it’s doing what it’s supposed to, but I’m seeing that some images aren’t regenerating despite being large enough to regenerate.

    Am I missing something? Thanks!

    Hi,

    Thanks for using my plugin.

There should be a spinner when you click to regenerate the individual image, and a “Done!” message at the end of the process. For the bulk regenerate you should see a lightbox with details. What options did you apply on the plugin settings page?

For the images that do not get regenerated do you get any errors during the processing or at the end when the regenerate log appears?
Is it possible for you to send me some screenshots or a screen recording of what you get?

    Regards,
    Iulia

Thanks for the quick response! Yeah, I’m not seeing any of that. Here’s a screen recording of what settings are saved, and what happens when I either bulk or single regenerate:

Can you check if there are any javascript errors in the console? Maybe there is a conflict with some other libraries. Do you have any other images processing plugins activated?

Looks like there is a weird error in the console:

Do you get that when the page loads (maybe there are other issues too), or when you click the regenerate button (no error when you load the page and the error appears when the regenerate call is initiated)?
Also, do you access the site over HTTPS or HTTP?

Sorry, the error comes through the console upon page load. No extra behavior upon clicking the regenerate buttons.

Even on the plugins list page I get the similar error:

Unchecked runtime.lastError: Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist.

I thought I had another force regen plugin on this staging site, but I do not. I’m going through some other possible conflicts and disabling/testing.

And yes, I do access this site via HTTPS.

I disabled your plugin, still got a variant of that error above. Not sure what’s causing it, but it’s not your plugin, at least at that level.

After re-enabling (and recreating the additional size lol), I tested again, still showing the same behavior.

Except I decided to try clicking the Regenerate button from the post instead of clicking on Image Details or the Regenerate button in the Image Resize settings page. It actually works from here hahaha. That’s so weird. It just doesn’t work in the other locations.

More testing. Opening the Image Details button I can actually regenerate the already-existing image sizes. It just won’t let me resize my new Additional Size from here or the settings page, even after having already generated it by using the Regenerate button within the post meta block.

Sorry for throwing all this weirdness your way so late at night haha.

I believe the issue comes from the fact that the image size name is not WordPress standard. It should have _ or -, not spaces in it. What script is registering that image size?

    Thread Starter tf5_bassist

    (@tf5_bassist)

That was the issue! I’ve seen image size names displayed with spaces before, so I just assumed that it would be automatically converted have a – or _, but I guess not.

After renaming the additional size from “Archive Thumbs” to “archive_thumbs” and reconfiguring the Elementor/Crocoblock image-sourcing blocks to the newly updated size name (which automatically gets displayed as “Archive Thumbs”!), these display properly.

Going into the post meta block > Image Details > Regenerate works as expected now, as does going into Image Resize… > General Settings > Regenerate for the whole archive_thumbs size.

Thanks for your help, I never would have assumed it was a naming issue. Perhaps there can be some sort of input filtering (or at least instructions/warnings) on that field to not use spaces haha.

    Thanks again!

I’m glad this is working for you now. Yes, the image size should look more like a slug instead of a title. If you add the image sizes using my plugin (this is where you find the options for this https://youtu.be/3hRSXMx3dcU?t=95), that is handled automatically, so this type of issue to be avoided.

I will mark this as resolved.

    Have a nice day!

Weird, that’s where I created the size haha. Oh well, as long as it’s working then! Thanks again!
