    Hi Roland,
I tried to post this to the comment section for the Profile add-on, but it says the comments are turned off to prevent spam. I then tried to send it as a private contact, but it came back saying that function was not allowed. Sorry for posting it here, but it seems the only alternative.

    My questions are these:

First, I have a domain that acts as the “public” side of my site, and a subdomain that is for members only. If I install this plugin, does the license apply site-wide or is it per domain/subdomain?

Also, and this is key–I have members listed in the PDB file that I imported from a previous attempt to manually keep membership records. These imported PDB records contain email addresses that would match the member’s WP credentials on the members-only subdomain, but they do NOT have the member’s username. When I install this add-on, I presume it “syncs” (or can be made to) the two lists (the WP users, and the PDB records). Is this correct? Would this then bring the member’s username into their PDB record?

This particular functionality would be golden for me.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’m going to have to investigate the issue you ran into with the discussion board, that is indeed where such questions should be posted, so I want it working.

First question, the license is going to apply to your entire site, doesn’t matter if you’re using a subdomain for part of it.

So, second question… the plugin is not designed to attempt to match an existing Participants Database record to an existing WP user account, I hadn’t anticipated that need. It assumes that the user’s status is initially one or the other, and then creates a new record or account as needed when the user updates their record or account.

Therefore, there is also no “mass update” since it only needs to perform the sync on an individual record/account when the profile or record is updated.

What you can do, however, is manually link the Participants Database record to a WP user account. When the plugin is activated, it adds a column to the Participants Database record named “pdbwpu_user_id” you would put the user ID of the matching WP account there to link the two.

If you are skilled with spreadsheets, I think it would be possible to use a spreadsheet to do this with the entire database automatically.

Alternatively, if you have mySQL skills, it could be done in the database with a properly crafted db query.

Thank you. That’s not the ideal answer I was looking for, in that the add-on doesn’t sync existing data, but the spreadsheet thought gave me an idea of how I might do this easily enough manually. I appreciate that.

I’m going to buy the add-on because firstly, I believe it will ultimately streamline the registration work in ways that are becoming increasingly necessary for me, but secondly, because you deserve the reward for your fine plugin. Of all the pieces I use on my site, yours has proven to be the most important and widely functional, and your support has been excellent. Thank you for both.

Thanks for the praise, and of course if you find the add-on doesn’t do what you need, I’ll refund the purchase price.

If you have further questions about the add-on please try the support forum for that add-on…it should be working for you now.

Trying to contact you with new information regarding the PDB WP Users add-on, but cannot post directly to you on the xnau.com site due to “spam filtering” on the comments page (again), and “that action currently not allowed” error on contact form submission (again). I’m a paying customer, and these issues are vital. Please email me or otherwise free up the posting options. Thank you.
