• Hi,

    I have a free WordPress blog (https://happyandharried.wordpress.com/).
I bought a paid domain hosted by Bluehost on 6th Sept 2015. I have registered my new website as https://happyandharried.com/

I have followed the instructions by WordPress on Export-Import and it has worked out well. I have a few queries before I can make my new website fully operational.

    1). Managing Subscriptions.
I have 994 followers (824 WordPress.com followers) and 170 email only followers). How do I migrate them to my new blog? I read about Jetpack plugin to migrate the followers, but have some doubts. Will it work with both types of followers (WordPress and email-only followers)? Can I then install another plugin like Mail Chimp or Mail Poet (from Genesis Framework) to setup my Newsletter? Will this affect my older subscriptions?

2). Migrating comments in Pages from old site to new website.
I have the Foodie Pro theme on Genesis Framework in my new website. I created navigation menus using pages I exported from my older wordpress.com site. I see that none of the existing comments for pages have appeared in the new site. The new pages do not have a “Leave a Reply” comment box either. I don’t have this problem for blog posts, only for pages.
For ex, my About page in wordpress.com (https://happyandharried.wordpress.com/about/) has 116 comments and I don’t want to lose them. Is it a theme issue or is there a setting to turn on comments for pages in WordPress?

3). Redirecting from old blog to new website.
Right now, the new website is not live. When setting my new website to go live, how can I redirect the old blog’s URL to the new blog automatically? I have my blog posts shared and linked in many places, like Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, etc and I would like to re-direct my old readers to the new site automatically.

4). Transferring post Likes and sharing counts to new website.
Do the “Likes” and other sharing counts that appear at the bottom of each post get transferred to the new website? Or is it like a clean slate now?

Sorry about the long list, but I do have a lot of questions!

    Thanks,
    Anjana.

Self-hosted out-of-the-box WordPress needs to be hardened for additional security, and now is the time to put that into place. BulletProof Security is a plugin that covers all the necessary hardening of the doors and much more, and then Wordfence Security is great for monitoring and throttling traffic on the inside as well as scanning all files to watch for changes. And then, if you wish, NinjaFirewall can run out in front of WordPress to throttle and stop certain types of traffic before it ever gets to your installation.

Each theme and plugin here at www.remarpro.com has its own support sub-forum, and your best bet might be to try posting questions there.

I have the Foodie Pro theme…

Themes that do not come from www.remarpro.com are not supported here, so you will need to go to the source for help with your theme:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=Foodie+Pro+theme

my About page in wordpress.com (‘https://happyandharried.wordpress.com/about/’) has 116 comments and I don’t want to lose them. Is it a theme issue or is there a setting to turn on comments for pages in WordPress?

I could be wrong here, but I would guess the relationships between pages (IDs) and comments somehow got lost during export/import. So whatever you do, keep your wordpress.com site intact until that gets sorted out…and wordpress.com might be able to help a bit there.

Redirecting from old blog to new website.

Redirecting from ‘https://happyandharried.wordpress.com/’ to ‘https://happyandharried.com/’ would have to happen at wordpress.com, I believe.

4). Transferring post Likes and sharing counts to new website.
Do the “Likes” and other sharing counts that appear at the bottom of each post get transferred to the new website? Or is it like a clean slate now?

I would guess things like that are in site stats and will remain wherever they are since ‘https://happyandharried.com/’ is a different site.
