Are you using any member registration plugins? I notice that there is no reCAPTCHA enabled on your registration page which could help stop this kind of attack, but sometimes a high volume of signups will be using a script firing automated requests at places other than the “human” signup page.
Wordfence can be set in Wordfence > All Options > Rate Limiting to limit “If anyone’s requests exceed” to something like 120 per minute so they receive an error page under these sorts of circumstances.
If you send us a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com, we could look into your settings a little further. You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.
