Referer/Affiliate links in WordPress Plugin?

  • Is it okay to put referer/aff links in a wordpress plugin assuming full disclosure and a clear way to remove them (donation)?

    A plugin I’m thinking of developing would yield a page of results and I’m wondering if it’s okay to embed an aff link there.

  • As I understand the plugin submission guidelines, you cannot force a user to provide a donation in order to remove these links. You would have to provide a clear mechanism for them to remove them at any time – without donating.

    They have to be opt-IN actually. And generally we’re going to say no to this anyway, since using someone else’s site for your advertising is not welcome here.
