Reference transactions enabled but not working with Paypal Express payments

    Hello,

    We have recently enabled reference transactions. All is working fine when customers make credit card payments but with Paypal Express payments, the clickable link to do a reference transaction on that payment does not appear on paypal. Paypal have investigated and advised as follows:

    “If it’s an Express Checkout transaction, the link will only be displayed if they have also passed the billing type of MerchantInitiatedBilling in the SetExpressCheckout API call.”

    Does the plugin allow this? How can we set this up within the plugin so that the reference transactions are also enabled for Paypal Express payments?

    Yes. At the product level you will find an option to “Enable Billing Agreement.” Just enable that for the product and then a billing agreement will be included with checkout so that you can run reference transactions in the future.

    You do need to make sure this has been approved and enabled at PayPal’s end before it will work. Billing Agreements have to be specifically enabled on the PayPal account.

    We have over a 150 individual products in our store – is there any other way to be able to enable the billing agreements for the entire store, for all products rather than having to go in manually and changing it product by product?

    Yeah, we have made a tool for this please see wp-admin / settings / Paypal for woocommerce / Tool > Screenshot.
    Please check that and enable for all products.
