hello, since I have Woo Subscriptions the PayPal payment doesn’t work.

This is the error I get:

This merchant account is not permitted to create Merchant Initiated Billing Agreements. Please contact PayPal support and request reference transaction access.

Tomorrow I wll contact PayPal to ask for Reference Transactions, however:

I read this page of PayPal: https://developer.paypal.com/api/nvp-soap/paypal-payments-pro/integration-guide/reference-transactions/ and in the beginning of the page they state that they are not accepting new users for this feature.

So my question is if you guys will develop something that will not need ref transaction? Thanks.

    Hi @dmware

Your link is referencing the NVP SOAP API which this plugin does not use. This plugin uses the latest API developed by PayPal.

So my question is if you guys will develop something that will not need ref transaction?

Reference transactions are how PayPal saves a customer’s payment method and allows for renewal payments on a subscription. That concept is not going away, you’re just looking at documentation for an API that this plugin doesn’t use.

    Kind Regards

Hi and thanks. I contacted PayPal yesterday and someone will contact me back within the next few days, hopefully.

Meanwhile I realised my specific needs and I’d like to describe them here briefly in order to see if your plugin may be of help, even in its Premium version if there is one.

So, just like many, I have a SAAS company that offers subscriptions. The Italian B2B’s market still uses more than 70% of the times the bank wire even for recurring subscriptions. Card automatic payments are increasing however not yet there. So, my subscriptions in Woo are with “Manual renewal”.

Some users even if they have PayPal or pay with card prefer to receive the expiry notification, clic on the link and pay manually each time. Some users are fine with creating an automatic payment.

So I’d like to offer the user the possibility to make the one time manual payment or create an automatic payment by checking a box or ticking the option in some way.

Is this something that your plugin can do?

If I am not wrong if the user decides to create the automatic paymenmt then reference transactions will be needed, other wise it will be a one off transaction, am I correct?

If this functionality is not available and you are willing to be paid for the customisation I am ready for that. I noticed a couple of hosting company allows that already.
