• I’m using the CompressX plugin to reduce image sizes, but I noticed that it generates additional images instead of replacing the originals. I see that the optimized images are stored in /wp-content/compressx-nextgen/.

To free up storage on my hosting, can I safely delete the original images while ensuring the compressed versions will still be displayed across the site? Or does CompressX require the originals to function properly?

    Thank you, Peter

    Hello @pfajs

    Thanks for your feedback.

In fact, deleting the original images involves more complicated situations. It may cause spider crawling errors in Google console.

But we are still testing it to see if it’s possible to find a reliable way.

    All the best,
