    Hi,

We’re considering upgrading to your Pro version of plugin, as we require a reduction in file size of images uploaded.

    1. Image optimization

Your page at https://www.codedropz.com/purchase-plugin/ lists a reduction of 15-20% for file optimization. Is there any way to increase this optimization? (The images are being uploaded by our customers, but we do not want to set a max file size limit, as many may not know how to do that and we may lose the sale, but we do not need multiple lots of 5 MB images either, so a higher compression would be fine.)

That said, this page also mentions about resizing image, which in tandem may suffice.
    2. Auto resize

I do not understand exactly how this component works however.

The page states, “Auto?resize?image?(ie: 800×800)?using WordPress default image manipulation function (WP_Image_Editor) / Note: There’s no editor in the front-end, only the script will automatically resize based on width & height specified in the admin”.

Which width & height in the admin will it use? We have three settings on default “Settings” > “Media” page, plus more set elsewhere.

We’d love to be able to set it for 1200 x 1200 pixels, for example. (Or we have 1300 x 1300 pixels as our largest setting in Settings > Media, which would also be fine.)
    3. Delete original large image files

Is it also possible to automatically delete the original large image files, and keep only the optimized and resized versions?

I look forward to your earliest reply.

    Thank you,

    Luke

Also, is there any alternate way to utilise ShortPixel image optimiser for this? (We have this installed, but unsure if it can be used to optimise and delete the original larger image or not. But also like your image resizing [pixel] option, once we are clear how this works – where it gets it settings from.)

    Hello @lukekowald ,

    1. Our plugin only optimize small files like less than 3-4 MB, as large image will take time to optimize and could affect the upload process, but you have an option to adjust the quality to reduce the file size.

    2. There’s an option on our plugin settings where you can add WxH (ie:1300×1300)

    3. Yes, the original file will be replaced by the resized one, but we do offer an option to retain the original file

Please let me know if you have any other question.

    Hi @glenwpcoder,

Thanks for your reply and info – sounds great on the automatic image replacement as well as the WxH plugin settings. ??

Out of interest, what happens if an image file is 5 MB in size?

I’ve checked our image uploads and our largest image uploaded is 5.2 MB, with some also around 4.5 MB. (Most images are under 4 MB, approximately 93% of them.)

    Thanks,

    Luke

For 5MB above I would recommend to resize the image and set the quality (plugin settings) between 75-80.

Our plugin not integrated with ShortPixel but I think you can still use ShortPixel as they have better option to optimize the image, maybe you can do it manually via WordPress media library.
