Reduce white space above image in twentyeleven theme

Hello,

I’ve removed site title and sub heading and want to reduce the white space above the image to nil.

I’ve created a child theme which seems unresponsive, so the first question is, can anyone tell me what’s wrong with it:

Whatever I write in the child theme after this, nothing changes on the site.
