reduce space between page content and footer

I have been trying to reduce the space between the content of the page and the footer – I have been doing this by editing style sheet in the theme’s css. I have been finding the hentry and trying to edit it that way as well as finding all the margin-bottom areas… I adjusted the footer’s to margin… nothing seems to be working! Any guidance would help! Thank you so much!
