I’m currently running the plugin; Redis Object Cache. I’d now like to implement WPML including WooCommerce Multilingual. Is anyone aware of any compatibility issues?

  • Hello and thank you for contacting us.
In the past, we had some cases reported with Redis Object Cache, and we tried to reproduce the problems, but we were unable to reproduce them in our setup.

We are opened for feedback and input – if you decide to implement this and you have problems – you can always open a new ticket at our forum at wpml.org so that we can debug if you have any issues.

    Hi George,

we are currently trying to do the same. We have two languages on seperate domains. The issues that arise are the following when Redis is activated:

    – Sometimes the menu will display in the wrong language
    – Sometimes the second page of the shop will give a 404 on the second domain
    – On the second domain, some products will redirect to the home page

Is there anything that can be done?

    Hello @kokomoweb,
We tried to reproduce the issue, but we could not do it.
So, it would be nice if you can share your configuration steps with us and a method to reproduce the problem. For now it is not reproducible for us and we have no data on this.

If you feel that you need privacy for sharing the data, you can open a ticket in our forum at wpml.org and ask for the private reply option.

    Hi George,

    Sorry I mispoke:

The products don’t redirect to the home page. What’s actually happening is that when Redis Cache is activated, the setting to have the languages on seperate domain flips back to languages per folder, and since we have a redirect happening for /en/ it goes back to the homepage. Does that enlighten you more?

If not, I’ll eventually try to reproduce on our staging, but I’m already in a few rabbit holes with your support right now so it might take a bit before I have the courage to go through the processs again.

I am sorry if you had a bad experience in our support forum and I hope that we can turn your experience into a positive one in time.
The issue that you report is a very curious issue that I have never actually seen happen.
I would suggest that you enable debugging in WordPress and check the debug log for errors. The error could also be logged in the browser console for the ajax action.

Perhaps you need to enable the Ajax cookie (in WPML > Languages) so that the ajax calls have a valid language information.

Hi george, I have setup a thread on the WPML forums for this, can you take a look at it?

Thank you, I will take a look at it.
