If I just 301 a page like today but now want to add one word to the URL of the new page. Should I create another redirect from the new page to the new URL or what? Do I risk losing any juice by redirecting again? Should I just delete that redirect and redirect the old page to the new one or would the juice have already been transferred? Sorry if this is confusing just trying to state my worries.

    Thanks.,

    Hello @tsmallswp,

Thank you for contacting the support.

You should remove the old redirect and redirect the original URL to the newly changed one.

Also, if you are renaming the posts’s slugs, you should let WordPress do the automatic redirection for you.

Rank Math’s auto-post redirect should only be used when you want to create an advanced redirect or any other redirection other than 301.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks, so you believe that when the 301 redirect happens it doesn’t automatically pass the juice to the next link. So the new link doesn’t already have the power.

From what I know I thought when you do a 301 redirect it passes the juice of that page to the new one but if you were to remove the redirect it after about 6 months it would be fine once no traffic is happening on that link anymore.

So you don’t have to manually redirect products as WordPress does it for you? I wasn’t aware of that.

    Hello @tsmallswp,

Sorry for not following up quickly and any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Yes, WordPress redirects the product pages automatically. Here’s a screencast showing the same:

    Hope that helps. Thank you.
