Redirection plugin makes redirect loop when CMS url is changed from iThemes

    Hey there,

    We have the redirection plugin installed with around 1500 redirects and iThemes Security. We changed the CMS URL to a custom one using iThemes Security, and the plugins have been working without any issues for 2 years now. However, after the last update, whenever we try to log in using a username and password to the CMS, it redirects in a loop, making the site inaccessible through the CMS login page.

    Then, I tried to deactivate & reactivate the redirection plugin, and voila! It works. But this issue has been recurring for the last two weeks: after reactivating the redirection, the CMS works, and then again, after a few days (4 or 5), we encounter the same issue. The solution was to deactivate and reactivate the redirection plugin again.

    What could be the issue here? Has anyone else experienced this same problem?

    Note: When this issue occurred, I tried by deactivating the iThemes Security plugin, but that didn’t resolve the issue. Even with iThemes in full deactivate mode, the problem persisted until I dealt with the redirection plugin.

    Redirection only does what you tell it to do. If it is causing a redirect then it is because you have configured that to happen. You should look through your redirects and see if anything might be causing a loop.

    If you are seeing something change after a period of time then almost certainly it is caused by a cache.
