Redirection issue with blog categories

I have a website that I manage with a blog and blog categories. I have 2 environments for this site, production and staging. Staging was cloned directly from production very recently. There should be no difference between the two sites, but on the production site, if I try to get to a specific blog category page, say /category/general I get stuck in a redirect loop, and all the headers say x-redirect-by: Polylang. This does not happen on the staging environment at all. I have compared the settings for Polylang on both sites and they are identical. What could be causing this and how do I stop it?
