    Hi,

Redirection disappeared from view in Plugins overnight. However it is still visible in the Plugins folder when viewing the WP installation from FTP.

Is this a thing that is known to happen? I’m going to try downloading the installation and installing over. Might also be helpful to know what file the redirects are stored in for records.

It is not a thing that is known to happen. Did it get disabled?

Your redirects are stored in the database and should still be there.

Thanks for the reply. No it wasn’t disabled. It entirely disappeared from the Plugin management page in WP and from Tools, yet the “redirection” folder was still in the Plugins folder on the server.

Disappeared overnight, hadn’t run new updates.

I removed the folder from the Plugins directory, downloaded the Redirection installation zip from www.remarpro.com, and installed it. It works and the redirects were in the DB, so they work after removing and reinstalling.

I’ve never seen a plugin just disappear like that while it’s still in the right folder on the server. Weird.

We’re on WP 4.8.3 Theme is based on Divi (up to date). I guess this can be marked resolved as we got things working, but wish we knew what caused it. Leaving open for now in case you’d like more info about the environment.

I’ve got something similar: after the latest upgrade (2.10), I can’t enable the plugin. It is still shown in the list and when I try to enable it, WordPress shows a message that it was enabled (with no error messages whatsoever) but the plugin still lists as disabled…

I tried deleting it (BIG mistake, it says all associated data was deleted as well ?? ) but I still can’t enable it… ??

    Edited to add:
Since I suspect I lost all redirection data, I went to phpMyAdmin and looked for them it the options table: I found an option named redirection_version with the value 2.3.3. Does it have anything to do with this?

Do you have any messages in your error logs?

    Are you running multisite?

Where would I tell my admin to look for the relevant logs?

    Not running multisite.

@scottaolson it depends on the server, but error logs are usually a system-wide thing in a well known location.

@jlcarneiro, no that’s just a version number. All Redirection data is stored in tables such as wp_redirection_items, wp_redirecton_groups etc

The plugin has a cleanup routine that activates when you press ‘Delete plugin’ from the WordPress plugin page, or click the red ‘Delete’ button on Redirection’s options page. This removes all tables and traces of the plugin.

If either of you are still having a problem and want me to take a look directly then please contact me through https://redirection.me

Once I calmed the f*ck down and learned that the redirects are stored in the database I ftp/deleted the folder and then reinstalled an earlier version, which fixed the problem. The upgraded and it now works.

But this IS a problem that IS happening.

@mechawear, that may be true but at the moment I have no details about how to reproduce
