Redirecting root page / isn't working

This plugin is working fine for specific pages to redirect other than the root/home page. In the example screen shot, it just shows a
Redirect from: / Redirect to: htp://www.google.com
…In other words, the / indicates the root/home page, right? When I create the same rule, my home page just opens up and it doesn’t redirect, is there some special trick to redirecting the root/homepage of WordPress, or a different way to approach it? Thanks in advance, plugin is great, just can’t redirect the root.
