Redirecting Individual IP Addresses to Custom Page

  • I’ve been looking for a way, hopefully by plugin, to be able to redirect individual IP addresses to specific pages and have not yet been able to find what I’m looking for. The scenario is that when I’m monitoring live traffic I notice that someone from a customer IP address is on the site, and I would like to be able to redirect their IP address to a specific page that could promote a special offer for that client. What I’ve seen so far are plugins that will redirect based on a URL landing, so that won’t work (as anyone would also get the special offer) or redirecting based on geo country code. I want to be able to redirect, for example, a specific IP address to a page created for just that one customer. I’m sure that there is a way to do it via htaccess but that would take too long and be difficult as I’d like to be able to see an IP in my live traffic and right then and there redirect.

    Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

  • I dont see a plugin that can do this out of the box, I can give you a code snippet but that’d be manual and not what you are looking for based on your post. At this point the best way forward if to hire a developer and get a plugin like say this one, modified to support IP addresses. Should be pretty simple to do for the right guy

    The idea of getting a developer to put together a plug in is an interesting one, but I don’t think that I’d even know where to start trying to find the right one. I would be interested in what code snippet you have – where would that be used? It does seem odd that nobody else has wanted something like this though.
