I have been wrestling with hackers for more than a week now. I thought I was getting the upper hand, as I had been detecting inserted code and closing off access. Or so I thought. This afternoon the site seems fine (https://babygotbooks.com), but when I try to login via /wp-admin.php I am redirected back to the root page. Same for /log-in.php. I have made my third or fourth clean install of the week, but the issue persists. Is this an issue with the clean installs (as a search of the topic might suggest) or is this a new development with the hackers? Is there an easy way to tell? Issue occurs on all browsers/computers, so I don’t think it is a cache/cookies issue.

  • wp-login.php would be the alternative log in link.

Most of the time plugins are the source of exploits. Are you up-to-date with all the latest versions of everything.

I am very scrupulous about updates. Especially as of late. Everything was up to date. I’ve also been running exploit scanner and wordfence constantly to detect any possible malware/exploits/insertions

Updating is part of maintaining a website! I am always a update behind to weed out bugs. if you are up to date then I would look into what plugins you are using.

Or the hackers have access to a higher level and no matter what they can always get in. Change all passwords to hosting, control panel, and any other passwords used to get access to any part of your website.

You will have to live with hackers if you choose not to stay up to date and avoid best practices

As I said, I was very up to date. In the meantime, I cannot get in to do things like check all my plugins, etc.

I suspect higher level access is the issue.

I used my FTP to physically remove plug-ins. Eventually that worked. Not sure which plugin was the culprit. Will carefully reinstall.
