I have the server setup on one WordPress site and the client setup on another WordPress site and all works properly when logging into the server site and then moving over to the client site to login with the single sign on button. The user gets logged in properly, so long as they were signed into the first website. However, if I do not login to the server site first and just directly visit the client site and try to press the button, it throws an error.

    {“error”:”invalid_client”,”error_description”:”No client id supplied”}

I can see the client_id parameter in the url but this error occurs even with that value present. Is it possible to have the plugin redirect non-logged in users to the server site’s login screen? Or is this only possible with the paid version of the plugin?

Also, an aside question that I have…is there a paid version of the plugin that does not require the user who is already signed into Site A to click the sign-on button for Site B? They just get automatically logged in then visiting. If so, what version of the plugin would be needed for that feature?

    Thanks,
    Wil

  • Hi Wil,

To test the SSO between two WordPress sites using our Client and Server SSO plugins, you do not need the paid version of the plugin.

Can you confirm if you have configured the correct client id and secret in the OAuth client plugin? Also, to figure out the invalid client error that you are facing, can you raise a support query from inside the plugin and also share the plugin configuration screenshots with us so that our team will reach out to you with a resolution?

Also, using the paid version of the plugin, if a user is signed in to site A then he will be automatically logged in to site B without the need to click on the sign-in button. We will help you to choose the correct plugin plan once you successfully test the SSO with free plugins.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

I was actually able to figure out the issue. Because we had WP Hide Login installed which removes access to the wp-login.php screen and moves the login screen to a custom url instead, that was causing the invalid client error above. Once I disabled that plugin, then the redirect worked properly.

Is there a way to custom set the redirect url when sending the user back to the server to login or is that only available via the paid plugin?

    Thanks,
    Wil

    Hi Wil,

Glad the issue is resolved for you.

As you are looking to set the custom redirect URL, it is available in our paid plugin. You can reach out to us by raising a support query from inside the plugin so that we can help you out with all your requirements.

Also, let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks
