    Good afternoon!

I am currently working on a new wordpress website for my father. I’m working on the same server as where his old website is, and he would like old website to be online up and until the current one is completely finished.

My solution to this was letting a worpdress maintenance plugin point web traffic to another directory (where I would place the old website) till i’m done with the new one. But the current plugins only display a page that maintenance is taking place, not allowing for my proposed idea.

Any suggestions how I could ‘fix’ this issue?

    Thanks in advance!

  • you don’t need a maintenance plugin, just a direct link to the other directory

    Thanks for the answer!

I only don’t quite understand what you mean? Where would I put the direct link?

Just add a custom link to your menu e.g. /other-directory.

Make sure to disable maintenance plugin and delete any page it may have created.

Hi stretchman, are you able to access the FTP? You could try redirecting your main URL to the folder/directory containing the old website using .htaccess.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

I ended up installing a maintenance plugin and redirecting traffic through the plugin (if you’re not admin) to website_url/temp.
