    Hi!
I was wondering if it was possible to re-direct a wordpress site to a subfolder or specific URL address, so that I can work on a live wordpress site at the same time — ie, only visible to admin.

    For example
If URL is: wptests.com –what I would like is for visitors to be redirected to wptests.com/live/index.html
and admins would be able to log into wptests.com/wp-admin and work on the wordpress site. Then, once the wordpress site was done, all we would have to do is deactivate the redirection. and wptests.com would be the new finished wordrepss site, visitble to all.

Is this possible, is it how it works?

    Thank you!

Yes, for the use case you describe, you’d want to make sure to use the following settings:

The last setting listed will be found under the advanced settings section, which is hidden by default. It is important to use a temporary redirect instead of a permanent one so that you are in control of disabling the redirect when you are ready and not at the mercy of browser caching.

    ETA
I tried out the plugin and it redirects, and as admin I can access the backend and edit pages but only with the wordpress classic editor, I cannot use a visual editor like Elementor… and if I want to preview a page it redirects me ??

Is there a way to prevent this? Or do I need to look into a different way to do this?

    thanks!

?could you guide me as to how to maintain editing and previewing capabilities? I see there are two fields in the Advanced Settings
I would like to preview the pages as I build them before publishing. I use Elementor as visual editor.

Finally, I opted for a different plugin, but only because it allows me to edit and preview with Elementor while working on the wordpress site, and having the site re-directed to any website visitor.

Otherwise your plugin was great, I loved its simplicity and straightfoward options.
But I really do have to edit pages with Elementor on the main site.

@heatherbodlak The plugin should support editing in Elementor out of the box. However, it sounds like this wasn’t working for you? I may need to check and make sure I don’t things work with the latest version of Elementor.

I’m glad you found the plugin user-friendly.

yes, that was my main issue, that as admin I could access the dashboard, edit pages within the WP editor.. but
    1. if I click preview page it redirected
    2. if I click “edit with elementor” it would try to but just stay blank.

could it be because the URL being redirected to is a subfolder of the same domain?

I appreciate your quick replies and help.
