Redirect to cart after closing paypal checkout popup

Basically if I press the paypal button to pay in the checkout page and after that I close the popup without making the purchase It doesn’t return to the checkout page but It redirect to the cart page, why? This after I updated the plugin. Is it possible to return to the ckeckout page without redirecting to the cart page? Thank you.
