Yes, you can do redirects like you want to do.
When you add the redirect, add it like this:

request URL:
/2015/02/???????-?????????-?????/
destination URL:
https://kannada.readoo.in/2015/02/hardworking-laborers/

Because the request URL is on the same domain as the site, use a relative URL like about. You also have to make sure if your site is cached, you delete the entire cache files – AND if you trashed the posts, be sure to empty the trash first, then delete the cache (if any).

I tested this on a few sites and it will indeed work.

I guess I need to uncheck “nofollow” to allow search engines to crawl the post. Will it affect my SEO rankings?

On the SEO question:
As long as the redirect is a 301 redirect, and the content on the new page is equivalent to the content on the initial page, the search engines should just transfer everything over to the new URL when they index the content (can take some time depending on how often your site is crawled).
