Redirect the ‘Register’ button?

    Aloha. I’m evaluating UM to see if it will work for my club. I have many questions, but I will ask them one at a time.

    I know how to create a custom Registration Form. But, is there a way for the ‘Register’ button to not only add someone to the membership database, but also redirect to another page on my site so that I can route them to Paypal to collect the membership dues?

    My understanding is that the “integrated” way to do this is to purchase the Woo Commerce plugin, but that’s not an option for me.

    Hi @harryz808

    You can redirect a user to a custom URL but this requires customization on your end if you need to trigger Paypal API to generate a URL for the transaction.

    Please go to WP > Ultimate Member > Roles > edit a role > see “Register Options” > “Registration Status” set it to “Auto Approve”. See “Action to be taken after registration” > choose Redirect to URL.

    Aloha @champsupertramp. My registration form is set to the ‘Default’ role, which according to the documentation the default role is ‘Member’. However when I try to edit the Role for Member, it is not in the list of items to be edited. Neither is Default. Does this mean I have to create a new role, or is Member called something else on the Edit Roles page?

    FYI – For now everyone who registers will just be a Member. At some point I will have to create an ‘Expired Member’ and some admin roles, but that’s in the future.

    You can check the “Subscriber” role. Have you tried Registering a user and see if which role is assigned to it in WP > Users?

    Aloha @champsupertramp! Mahalo for your assistance. This is kind of a ‘duh’ moment for me. I should have thought of this.

    However, I was let astray by the documentation. How do I report this to get it fixed?

    On page https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/87-adding-a-registration-form there is the following text. The last word of the paragraph should be changed to ‘Subscriber’.

    Assign role to form
    Assigning a role to a form is easy and you can select a role by going to the customize this form widget situated on the right-hand side of the page. In this widget you can assign a role to this form. If you have not yet created a custom role then select roles from the Ultimate Member sub-menu to create a new user role. If you do not asign a role to this form, any users signing up using this form will automatically be assigned the default user role (member).
